Send a Google Doc for signature with Pactlyra

There is no Google Docs connector yet. This is the route that works today, step by step, and exactly what is missing.

Pactlyra does not have a Google Docs add-on or a Google Drive connector today. What it does have is a signing workflow for PDFs, and a Google Doc becomes a PDF in one step. That is the whole route, and it works now.

How to send a Google Doc for signature

  1. In Google Docs, choose File, then Download, then PDF document (.pdf).
  2. In Pactlyra, upload that PDF.
  3. Place the signature and other fields on the pages where you want them.
  4. Add the people who need to sign and send it. Signers do not need a Pactlyra account.
  5. When everyone has signed, you get the signed PDF with a certificate of completion.

What you get at the end

Every completed document has an audit trail and a certificate of completion, so there is a record of who signed what and when, held apart from the Doc you started in. The free PDF signing page shows the same flow without sending anything.

What is not built yet

  • No Google Docs add-on or sidebar. You leave Docs to export the file.
  • No Google Drive import and no automatic save of the signed copy back to Drive. You

download the signed PDF and file it yourself.

  • No link between the Doc and the signed copy. If you change the Doc after exporting it,

export again and send the new PDF; the signed version is a PDF, not a live Doc.

status is stated plainly. A connector is listed as available only once it is built and tested.

If you build your own tooling, the REST API accepts a PDF and can send it for signature without anyone using the screens.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pactlyra integrate with Google Docs?

Not as a connector. There is no add-on and no Drive link today. You export the Doc as a PDF and upload it, which takes one step.

Can I sign a Google Doc without exporting it?

No. Pactlyra signs PDFs. Export the Doc as a PDF first, then upload it.

Do signers need a Google account or a Pactlyra account?

No. Signers do not need a Pactlyra account, and being signed in to Google plays no part in signing.

Will the signed copy be saved to Google Drive?

Not automatically. You download the signed PDF and save it wherever you keep records.

Is there a free way to try this?

Yes. A new workspace gets a 7-day trial with no card at signup and up to five sends, so you can send a real document before choosing a paid plan.
